In-house Theological Training

life group

Life Groups are the small groups of the church, which are ideally composed of seven members per group. LG focuses more on the discipleship of one's personal growth in Christ, being accountable to one another, helping each other on a more personal level, respecting each other's confidentiality, and fulfilling God's commandment to love one another.

christian education

Christian Education (CE) is one of the core training courses of BCF. Consisting of four main sets of lessons – Practical Lessons, Doctrinal Lessons, Family Lessons, and Life Group Lessons – it is a 7-month training course wherein students learn about God, His Word, and His works. Topics such as the Trinity, prayer and daily devotion, family members and their proper roles, how to conduct life group meetings, and many more are discoursed by members of the Pastors, Elders, Deacons, and Deaconesses (PEDD) with the students using relevant materials and engaging discussions. Attendees who wish to become official members of the church are required to complete the Breaking Barriers Retreat (BBR) and the Practical Lessons in CE. Meanwhile, official church members who are interested to participate in any of the ministries of the church are required to complete the entire CE training course.

theological education by extension

Theological Education by Extension (TEE) are program materials provided by the Study by Extension for All Nations or SEAN UK that helps mobilize church growth, evangelism, discipleship, and ministry training. TEE also enables the church by multiplying Christian workers, and preparing pastors, church leaders, and ministry workers. It is an effective but low-cost system of learning and training within the local context, modeled on small groups led by trained tutors – compared, for instance, with the expensive and non-localized option of college courses.

TEE currently offers two program courses. These are the Life of Christ (LOC) and Paul’s Life and Letters (PLL).

The Life of Christ (LOC) is a discipleship and training course in pastoral theology based on the Book of Matthew, structured to study Christ’s life in a correct sequence. This course aims to introduce the student to all the basic disciplines of the Christian life and ministry, providing a thorough knowledge of Christ's life and ministry, a comparative analysis of the four Gospels, the Old Testament background to Christ's ministry, the techniques of study, reflection and application, an outline of systematic theology, and a comparison of Christianity with other religions. It also emphasizes practical ministry in the local church, including active participation in group studies, individual and group Bible studies, personal evangelism, stewardship, preaching, developing devotionals, family worship and counseling, planting a new church, dealing with the occult, Baptism, the Lord's Supper, discipline in the church, relationships, marriage and the family social reform and direct help, and psychological adjustments. It consists of 6 consecutive books, arranged in units, studying each unit for 2-3 hours. After each unit, there is a group meeting, which is an essential part of the course. It greatly enriches the learning process and enables and enhances the application of theory to practice in the local church setting.

On the other hand, Paul’s Life and Letters (LOC) focuses on Paul’s triumph and struggles for the Great Commission, studying his letters to different churches, and giving us a perspective of what happened in his missionary journeys.

TEE programs aim to provide, from the scriptures and guided by the Holy Spirit, the tools, materials, and structures needed for realistic in-service training of members and leaders of local congregations. Through this, they grow and mature in their faith, as well as discover and develop their gifts to exercise it for a more effective ministry, glorifying God both at church and the world.

philippine baptist theological seminary-
Seminary education by extension

PBTS Seminary Education by Extension in Bahrain started in 2007 by PBTS visiting professors. Its aim is to bring seminary education to the general church membership, not just ministers and leaders, who need accredited theological and ministerial training but who are located in areas with no available theological institutions, or simply bring education to where the students live, work, and minister. The difference between PBTS-SEE and other educational trainings offered in the church is that with SEE, students earn seminary credits equivalent to three ministry programs – Associate in Ministerial Training, Bachelor of Theology, and Master of Arts in Ministry.

Programs are 1-2 years long which cover biblical studies, theological and historical studies, and practical training. Courses are taught by instructors who also finished seminary programs (at least a Master’s degree in theology from PBTS or other accredited theological schools). Currently, classes are taught by Pastor Freddie Cudiamat (theological and historical studies), Pastor Butch Estacio (theological studies and practical training), and Miss Love Abella-Dela Cruz (biblical studies). Students who acquired a high school degree may enroll in the associate program, while college graduates may enroll in either a bachelor’s or master’s degree. Depending on the location and situation of students and instructors, classes may be arranged as online meetings or face-to-face sessions.

school of ministry

The School of Ministry, also known as SOM, is a theological training course that serves as a prerequisite of BCF for the installation of its church elders. This course includes the major doctrines namely: Doctrine of God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, the Bible, the Church, Man, Heaven, and Hell, and the end times. Other subjects offered are the Principles of Ministry, Hermeneutics, and Homiletics. It is a 6-month course, having 4-hour classes, once a week. During the pandemic, classes were online, but soon, they will be reverted back to a face-to-face setup.

The goal is to prepare, mainly, the prospective elders of the church, equipping them to improve their theological knowledge, biblical interpretation, and Christian leadership for the edification of the church. This course is also open for everyone, even for other churches.
